Due to the post-election tensions in Kenya, the Masai Mara Game Reserve has experienced a substantial drop in visitors these past months. This has resulted in a shortfall of park revenues, which fund the Mara Conservancy. Management operations and crucial park operations such as anti-poaching patrols, scouting patrols, compensation payments to cattle owners, infrastructure maintenance etc … have been either stopped or severely curtailed. If the current trend continues, it could have dramatic consequences for the reserve, renowned worldwide for its wealth of game. The Conservancy needs $50,000.00/month to operate normally.
