Early morning is the best time to view the Victoria Falls. The soft morning light and a newly risen sun cast a beneficent glow on the world's most astounding waterfall. A guide will collect you from your hotel and take you on a guided tour of the Falls. Amazing statistics will be revealed: spanning nearly two kilometers and dropping 103 meters at its highest point, in full flow Victoria Falls cascades 500 million liters per minute into the Gorge below. The resulting spray can be seen from many kilometers away. Overnight at the hotel of your choice on a bed & breakfast basis. A) Victoria Falls Hotel in a deluxe room or B) Ilala Lodge.
Days 4 & 5: Okavango Delta
You will be collected from your hotel in Victoria Falls on Day 4 and transferred to Kasane Airport in Botswana. From there it's a light aircraft transfer into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Your days will be filled with rewarding game-drives led by a professional guide, mekoro trips through the papyrus-lined channels of the Delta and guided nature walks. The Delta is a superlative wildlife sanctuary, and is also productive for birders. On land, the variety of bird life ranges from Meyer's parrots, rattling sisti-colas, spurwing duck, fish eagle and a huge variety of other species. In the channels of the Delta, you'll see tiny iridescent kingfishers and a host of other water birds. On nocturnal birding excursions, the fortunate will spot the elusive Pel's fishing owl. Anglers can try their hand at hooking a tiger fish or bream. The added highlight of an evening game drive by spotlight assures you of the most complete lodge experience in Botswana. Helicopter flights can be arranged at an additional cost. Spend two nights on full board basis at A) Either Xaranna Camp or Xudum Camp or B) Nxabega Camp.
Day 6: Maun - Johannesburg
You will be transferred back to the Lodge's bush airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Maun Airport, in time for your connecting flight to Johannesburg. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Johannesburg is the financial hub of South Africa, and a shopper's mecca. Sandton City and Village Walk shopping centers both of which have much to offer. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight on a bed & breakfast basis at the Westcliff Hotel.
Days 7 & 8: Sabi Sands/ Ngala Game Reserve
On the morning of Day 7, you will be transferred to a private lounge at Johannesburg International Airport for your light aircraft flight to the private game reserve of your choice. This is a scenic region, and the location for some of South Africa's most famous wildlife reserves. There is an excellent chance of you seeing the Big Five, and a great variety of other animal and bird species, too. You'll enjoy twice-daily game-drives led by a professional guide. (The evening game-drive is illuminated by spotlight, giving you a glimpse into the lives of nocturnal animals.) Sophisticated bush sundowners are savored in scenic locations, as you watch the sunset and the moonrise over another perfect South African day. Both Exeter and Ngala Private Game Reserves are famed for their unforgettable Pan-African cuisine, often savored al fresco in beautifully appointed bomas, or in a romantic candle-lit courtyard. Overnights on a full board basis, including safari activities offered by the lodge. A) Exeter Leadwood Lodge or B) Ngala Game Lodge.
